Car Shipping from Dubai: RORO & Container Vehicle Shipping

Dubai is one of the world's busiest markets for vehicle exports, from new and used cars bound for Africa and Central Asia to personal vehicles travelling with their owners to a new home. Our car shipping service from Dubai takes care of the paperwork, port handling and ocean transport for cars, SUVs, commercial vehicles and heavy machinery.

We help car traders and dealers, fleet owners, construction companies and private owners choose between RORO and container shipping, and make sure every vehicle arrives with the documents needed to clear and register it at destination.

RORO or container: choosing the right method

Roll-on/roll-off (RORO)

With RORO, the vehicle is driven onto a specialised car-carrier vessel and secured on one of its decks, much like a multi-storey car park at sea. It is usually the most economical choice for running vehicles, and it suits trucks, buses and wheeled machinery that are too large for a container. Personal belongings generally cannot be left inside.

Container shipping

Vehicles can also travel inside a 20ft or 40ft container, secured with straps and wheel chocks. A 40ft container can often take two or more cars, which lowers the cost per vehicle. Container shipping gives more protection for luxury, classic or non-running vehicles and allows you to ship parts alongside the car.

What's included

  • Advice on shipping method, sailing schedules and destination rules for importing vehicles.
  • Export documentation, including the vehicle export certificate and export plates, where required, from the UAE authorities.
  • Collection of the vehicle from your home, showroom or auction yard by tow truck or driver.
  • Condition report and photographs before loading, so the vehicle's condition is recorded.
  • Container loading and lashing by experienced staff, or delivery to the RORO terminal.
  • Export customs clearance and the bill of lading.
  • Destination services through partner agents: port handling, import clearance and delivery, where available.
  • Marine insurance on request. [PLACEHOLDER: insurance details]

How car shipping from Dubai works

  1. Request a quote with the vehicle's make, model, year, dimensions, whether it runs, and the destination port.
  2. Check import rules. We help you confirm the destination's rules, such as age limits, steering side and emission standards, before you commit.
  3. Prepare documents. You provide the registration card (Mulkiya) or title, the purchase invoice and the owner's ID; we arrange the export certificate.
  4. Collection and inspection. The vehicle is collected, photographed and checked.
  5. Loading and departure. The vehicle is loaded onto the RORO vessel or into the container and shipped.
  6. Arrival. Our partner agent or your clearing agent receives the vehicle and clears it through customs.

Preparing your vehicle for shipping

  • Clean the car inside and out so the condition report is accurate; some countries also inspect for soil and pests.
  • Leave only a small amount of fuel in the tank, as carriers usually require.
  • Remove personal items and any loose accessories, unless shipping by container with permission.
  • Note existing scratches and dents, and take your own photos.
  • Disable alarms or provide instructions to switch them off.

Shipping your car to a new home country

If you are relocating and taking your own car with you, check the destination's rules before you decide. Some countries charge high import taxes on vehicles, limit the age of imported cars or require modifications to meet local standards, so selling in Dubai and buying again may cost less. Where shipping makes sense, we can combine your car with your household goods in one container through our relocation services.

Vehicle Shipping / RORO: frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to ship a car from Dubai?

The cost depends on the destination, the size of the vehicle, the shipping method and the services you need at each end. RORO is usually cheaper for a single running car, while sharing a container can be economical for two or more vehicles. We give you a clear quote for both options.

Which documents do I need to export a car from the UAE?

You normally need the vehicle registration card (Mulkiya) or certificate of ownership, the owner's Emirates ID or passport, and an export certificate. If the car is financed, a clearance letter from the bank is also required. We guide you through the process.

Can I put personal belongings in the car?

With RORO shipping, personal items are generally not allowed inside the vehicle. With container shipping, some items may be packed in the container if they are declared, depending on the destination's customs rules.

How long does car shipping from Dubai take?

Transit time depends on the destination and sailing schedules. Nearby markets can be reached in about a week, while more distant destinations can take several weeks. We confirm the schedule when you book.

Can you ship a car that does not run?

Yes. Non-running vehicles are usually shipped in containers, as they can be winched or lifted into place. Let us know in advance so we arrange the right equipment.
